I LOVE PZ
Los
Angeles, New York City, Penzance – what's the connection? Answer: An
iconic acronym. Very few towns or cities in the world can boast such a
neat abbreviation that rolls off the tongue in quite the same way as
ours. LA, NYC and PZ – they just work (and what great company we keep).
You may call it pure luck of the naming draw, but we believe it to be an
honour, and say that we all have a duty to use and celebrate our
dual-letter moniker at every opportunity. We're no toponymists but we'd
safely guess the origin is the code prefix for the port's fishing boats,
and in that role it certainly has official validation. But shouldn't we
campaign for it to become a recognised abbreviation?
